Chapter Awards
The Alpha Kappa Chapter at Large
recognizes individual members with two awards given annually at the
Spring Awards Meeting. The awards pay tribute to 1) a member who
has been an outstanding mentor, and 2) a member who demonstrates
excellence in leadership. Deadline for submissions
is January 31.
The nomination form on the downloadable page of the website in PDF
format is interactive so that you can "fill in the blanks"
online. If you have the upgraded version (not free) of Adobe
Acrobat you can save your completed application to your computer or
to a disk. If you are using the free version of Adobe Acrobat
Reader, you will not be able to save the application to your
computer. You will need to print your application and
make the number of copies you need.

The Awards are:
KATHRYN SMITH LASTRETO MENTOR
AWARD
This award, initiated in 1988,
was presented to Kathryn Smith Lastreto, in recognition of her
contributions to the founding of Alpha Kappa Chapter (now the Alpha
Kappa Chapter at Large). Dr. Smith (now Lastreto) was Dean of
the School of Nursing at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center when the Chapter was chartered. The Award
recognizes nurses who make significant contributions to the
chapter and/or who are a resource and guide to students and other
nurses as they develop their careers in nursing. Continue
this tradition by submitting nominations to honor colleagues with
this impressive award.

DORIS J. BIESTER AWARD FOR
EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP
This award, first given in 1999, is
named for chapter member and nursing leader, Dori J. Biester,
presently the CEO of The Children's Hospital in Denver, CO.
Dr. Biester, a respected leader, is particularly recognized for the
impact she has had on nursing through her visionary and innovative
approaches. Honor a colleague by nominating her/him for this
prestigious award.
